⚓ Join Us for an Evening Exploring Canada’s Future Shipbuilding Vision
The Canadian Institute of Marine Engineering (CIMarE) Ottawa Branch is pleased to welcome Jason Reid, Vice President, Business Development at Chantier Davie Canada Inc., as the featured speaker for our second Technical Paper of the Fall 2026 season.
📅 October 28, 2026
📍 Rideau Canal Junior Ranks Mess, Ottawa
🕡 18:30 hrs
Jason brings a unique blend of naval, maritime, aerospace, and advanced manufacturing experience. A former Royal Navy engineer with 26 years of service, he has held senior leadership roles in tactical operations, training, and the UK’s Continuous at Sea Deterrence program. Since joining Davie in 2023, he has been helping drive strategic growth for one of Canada’s most important shipyards.
His presentation will focus on Davie’s role in Canada’s National Shipbuilding Strategy (NSS) and the company’s contribution to strengthening Canada’s maritime future.
Topics will include: ✅ Construction of one of the world’s largest and most powerful icebreaker fleets to support Canada’s Arctic sovereignty and year-round marine trade
✅ The building of two new Transport Canada ferries to replace aging vessels serving communities across Eastern Québec and Atlantic Canada
✅ Davie’s growing role as a key partner in Canada’s long-term shipbuilding strategy
This promises to be a fascinating discussion on the future of Canadian shipbuilding, Arctic operations, and maritime infrastructure.
As always, our colleagues from SNAME are warmly invited to attend.
